Why It Helps

Come, darling. Washing yourself should be simple.

During soapmaking, olive oil is transformed into cleansing molecules. These molecules help loosen dirt and excess oil, allowing water to carry them away when you rinse.

A short ingredient list also makes it easier to understand what touches your skin and identify ingredients you prefer to avoid.

Daddy’s approach brings traditional soapmaking into your daily routine: familiar ingredients, a clear purpose and straightforward cleansing.

THE MODERN SHOWER PROBLEM

When Did Washing Become an Engineering Project?

Come, darling. Have a look at what has happened to the humble shower.

Shampoo first. Conditioner second. Then the serum, mask, scalp treatment, leave-in cream and one mysterious bottle nobody remembers buying. What began as washing yourself has somehow become a small industrial operation.

Many conventional shampoos and body cleansers rely on long formulations containing powerful surfactants, fragrances, colours, preservatives and coating agents. Some perform useful jobs. Others seem to have been invited because the marketing department had an empty chair.

Daddy’s question is simple: does your washing routine genuinely require all of this?

Effective cleansing should remove sweat, dirt and excess oil. It should not require twelve bottles, three warning labels and a professional hairdresser attending to a monkey.

Perhaps it is time to make the shower simple again.

THE INGREDIENT-LIST INVESTIGATION

Turn the Bottle Around, Darling

Do not be distracted by the flowers on the front. Turn the bottle around.

That little paragraph on the back is where the actual product lives. By the third line, the monkey has found his reading glasses. By the tenth, the ingredient list has crossed the laboratory floor and is approaching the neighbouring suburb.

A long chemical name is not automatically evidence of danger, but an unnecessarily crowded formula does make it harder to understand what you are repeatedly applying to your skin. If irritation, dryness or itching appears, finding the responsible ingredient can become an investigation worthy of Daddy’s laboratory.

Fragrances, colourants, aggressive cleansing agents and certain preservatives can be troublesome for some people, particularly when the skin barrier is already dry or sensitive. The more extras a product contains, the more potential points of contact there are.

Daddy does not fear long words. He simply expects every ingredient to explain why it is there.

If it cannot explain itself, it may collect its belongings and leave the shower.

RETURNING TO TRADITIONAL SOAPMAKING

Soap Was Simple Before We Complicated It

Long before the bathroom became a plastic-bottle showroom, people made soap by combining natural fats or oils with a carefully measured alkali.

That basic principle has been understood across civilisations for thousands of years. Mediterranean soapmakers became especially familiar with olive oil soap, while coconut oil later became valued in soapmaking for the hardness and cleansing lather its particular fatty acids can provide.

No twenty-bottle routine. No laboratory circus. Just recognisable raw materials, precise measurements, time and craftsmanship.

This does not mean Daddy blindly copies an ancient recipe and hopes for the best. Traditional wisdom gives us the foundation; modern measurement helps us understand ratios, fatty-acid profiles, cleansing strength, hardness and curing time.

That is how Daddy’s Natural approaches olive oil soap and coconut oil soap: respect the old knowledge, understand the chemistry and remove whatever does not need to be there.

The old soapmakers may not have owned digital scales, darling... but they certainly understood patience.

THE SCIENCE OF SAPONIFICATION

THE SCIENCE OF SAPONIFICATION

Let us be very clear: genuine bar soap is not “chemical-free.”

Soap exists because of chemistry.

Olive oil, coconut oil and other fats are largely made from triglycerides. When the chosen oils are combined with a precisely calculated amount of sodium hydroxide or 'caustic soda', a reaction called saponification takes place. The triglycerides are transformed into sodium fatty-acid salts, the substance we call soap, alongside naturally formed glycerin.

The oils must be weighed. The alkali must be calculated. The mixture must be blended correctly, poured into moulds, allowed to set, cut into bars and given sufficient time to cure.

There is no respectable shortcut around this process.

Sodium hydroxide is caustic before the reaction, which is precisely why formulation and measurement matter. Daddy is not hiding the alkali behind a green leaf and the word “pure.” He is showing you the process because properly made soap should be understood, not surrounded by mystical marketing.

Simple does not mean careless. In Daddy’s workshop, simple means every ingredient and every gram has been properly considered.

DADDY’S INGREDIENT STANDARD

If It Cannot Earn Its Place, It Does Not Go In

One side of Daddy’s inspection table contains a short, orderly line of potential ingredients.

The other side appears to have been struck by a cosmetics delivery truck.

Daddy is not interested in stuffing a natural bar soap with fashionable extracts simply so the label sounds expensive. Every ingredient must perform a clear function: form the soap, influence cleansing, improve the structure or contribute something genuinely useful to the finished bar.

The female scientist weighs. Daddy inspects. The monkey handles rejections with perhaps slightly too much enthusiasm.

The standard is straightforward: keep the formulation understandable, remove unnecessary fragrance, colouring and decorative nonsense, then test the finished bar for performance, consistency and proper curing.

Until every ingredient has earned its place, the monkey’s NO stamp remains on the table.

NATURAL BAR SOAP AND YOUR SKIN

Your Skin Is The Largest Organ
In Your Body For A Reason, Darling.

In Your Body For A Reason, Darling.

Come, darling. Your skin works all day to protect you. It helps control your temperature, holds moisture inside and forms a barrier between your body and the outside world.

That barrier deserves some care when you step into the shower.

Think of its surface as a wall made from tiny skin cells, held together by natural fats. Long, hot washes can weaken this protection and increase moisture loss. Prolonged wetting can also swell the outer layer, making it easier for certain substances to pass into the skin.

Now consider what you are washing with. Strong detergents remove oil, while fragrances and certain preservatives can irritate sensitive skin. A steaming shower and an aggressive cleanser can leave you feeling tight, dry or itchy.

Daddy would rather make the daily routine simpler.

Traditional olive oil soap starts with an oil rich in oleic fatty acids. Soapmaking transforms those fats into cleansing molecules that help lift dirt and excess oil so water can carry them away. The same process produces glycerin, which attracts water. When retained in the bar, it contributes to the finished formula; research comparing soaps shows that glycerin can reduce some of the drying and irritating effects of cleansing.

A short ingredient list brings another practical benefit: you can see what touches your body and avoid ingredients that have bothered your skin before. Choosing a bar without added perfume or colour removes those particular exposures.

The care lies in the complete recipe. Its oils, measurements and finished cleansing strength. Even traditional soap needs thoughtful formulation because it is naturally alkaline.

Use comfortable warm water, rinse well and give your skin the same consideration you give everything else that keeps you healthy.

Daddy’s approach is simple: understand the ingredients, respect the skin and make every wash more thoughtful.

A TRADITION WORTH BRINGING HOME

Darling, taking care of yourself begins with the habits you repeat: what you eat, how you move, how you rest and what you use to wash your body.

Our ancestors understood the value of familiar materials, practical skills and patient craftsmanship. Traditional soapmaking grew from that knowledge, turning oils into something useful through careful preparation and time.

Daddy’s Natural exists to bring those natural and traditional ways of living back into everyday life.

We take ancestral knowledge seriously. We learn how the methods work, choose ingredients with a clear purpose and make the results easy to understand and use.

Our natural bar soap carries that mission into your bathroom. Familiar foundations. A straightforward formula. Traditional craftsmanship you can make part of your daily routine.

You do not have to change your whole life in one afternoon, darling. Start with something you do every day.

Make room for a proper bar of soap...and bring a little traditional wisdom home.
